About me

User: anneinchaosland
Name: Anne
Originally this blog was about my student exchange to Montreal and North America (and later, south and cental america). This was the 'chaos land' of the title. However, once overseas I soon realised that Australia (and especially Sydney) was the real chaos land, -I would monitor Australian news with increasing feelings of trepidation, in reaction to all the huge and worrying political changes Australia is going through, eg industrial relations laws. So this blog is dedicated to trying to understand the chaos of this world, to find its beauty, and to direct its energy to something good and life affirming.

"What would happen if Christians devoted the same discipline and self-sacrifice to nonviolent peacemaking that armies devote to war?"

this is a quote from the Christian peacemaker teams But now, that peoples' lives are endangered, this quote carries far more pathos. Their website is here, http://www.cpt.org. Now as you probably know, 4 of their members are captured in Iraq.

The CPT is mainly Mennonite, Quaker and Brethren pacifists. I admire the work they are doing. However, tomorrow, their lives are to be ended by their captors. If their legacy is to live on, we need to learn from their selfless work. They were most recently helping with the formation of a Muslim Peacemaker Teams group in Iraq. Look on their website and their writings and learn from them! Here is the blog of one of the members, Tom Fox. (There was a petition circulating, that is linked to on their website if you still want to sign it),
